RedSTAR is the volunteer wilderness special operations unit of Powell County, KY Ambulance Service.

Organized in 2015, we provide wilderness and rope rescue-trained EMT’s, Paramedics, RN’s and Physicians to support the highly skilled Powell County Search & Rescue Team, and to surrounding counties when requested.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to RedSTAR through GoFundMe at GoFund.Me/redstarmedical!

We're prepping equipment to cover the @nextoppevents Rough Trail 50k tomorrow, being run throughout the #rrg. The first-time racers won't be the only ones with butterflies. #pocus #sar #wildernessmedicine #wildernessEMS
It was our honor to address a packed house at the 30th University of Kentucky Trauma & Emergency Medicine Symposium on our unique model of wilderness EMS delivery and some of the challenges that come along with that. Pictured below (L-R) are team members Alan Jaques, Mike Hackett, and @downtofifer , who presented on behalf of the team. Mike is wearing his orange @wolfecountysar jacket, because he and friend of the team @johnraymay also delivered a presentation on that great organization and the challenges they face in technical rescue and patient evacuation. In addition to being a CRNA on our roster, Mike serves as Deputy Chief of Wolfe County SAR.
